Peruvian artichoke exports to US increased in January-May

In the January-May period of 2008, the United States was the first destination market of Peruvian artichokes increasing its participation from 43 to 54 percent compared to the same period last year, reported today the Exporters Association (Adex).

In total, the export of artichokes totaled 24 million 919 thousand dollars in the first five months of the year, 38 percent more compared to the same period of last year.

Ayacucho farmers to export 454 tons of purple corn to Japan

Purple corn producers from the Andean region of Ayacucho expect to export 454 tons of this product to Japan in a joint work with the export-oriented agricultural company Agrocóndor, which will be responsible for purchasing and processing purple corn cobs, said today the executive president of Sierra Exportadora, Gaston Benza Pflucker.

The prestigious magazine Travel & Leisure of the US American Express Group published in its last edition an exclusive list of the World’s Best Hotels in 2008 which includes the Peruvian hotel Inkaterra Machu Picchu, located in Cusco region (Peru).


Inkaterra Machu Picchu Hotel had already been considered as the four best ecotourist hotels in the world by Trip Advisor, the biggest traveler’s community in the world.
Now, the Peruvian hotel holds position 98 of the Travel & Leisure list, considered one of the best travel magazines in the world, after going through an exhaustive test of quality.
